I had a gf who was super into King Missile before this; we saw them live in Cleveland on the night of the 1992 elections, and met the main guy, John S Hall. Very soft-spoken, but with a wicked sense of humor. Not surprising that something he wrote would blow up at random like that.
Oh, wow, you saw them live? Color me eight shades of jealous. I bet it was in an awesome bar, full of smoke and loveable castaways looking for a ripping good time. I played the crap out of ‘Happy Hour’ when it came out, and thought Hall was super talented as well. Thanks for taking the time to read and share!
Thanks for taking the time to read and comment, Nadine. Sounds like you might be more of a Disco Duck girl, lol. For what it’s worth, I’m 52, so not particularly young either. Not that there’s anything wrong with that. :)
Alas, unfortunately, I was of the Disco Duck era, and the indignity/assault to my eardrums has, regrettably, never been forgotten. However, in spite of that abomination, I DO like disco, Nile Rodgers, Donna Summer, and I am willing to die on that glitterballed hill. I abhor the imitators that tried to cash in on that musical moment, thus ruining it for the folks who were truly talented.
If you heard this song’s riff in your head before even finishing the first sentence…you might be GenX,…
Ha! Nice one. It’s amazing how many memories flood back to me every time I hear it.

Thanks for sharing. I came of age a decade previous (yup, I am really old, still a gen x tho') so missed this important cultural milestone. lol.
