I confess I'm an elder millennial (don't kick me out!) but the way this song gets stuck in my head at least once a month... full bee costume visuals and all
OMG how dare you. I’m kidding, of course. You’re welcome to kick it with the fogeys anytime. And, yeah, I know what you mean. Reason I chose the song is because it got stuck in my head the other day. :)
I've always been a big fan of this song! You're so right about this being the most upbeat tune about depression. It's also hard not thinking about that girl in the bee costume in the video! I like to think the song has a life beyond that though.
Yeah, I pretty much fell in love with the song as soon as I heard it, even though I was listening to vastly different music at the time. As for the Bee Girl, she’s just one of those characters that continues to come back to me now and then. Though I agree 100% that the song amounts to a whole lot more than a video, regardless of how iconic it might be.
I debated mentioning his death in the piece. In the end, I figured everyone reading already knew, so I decided to keep it light. I am glad you mentioned it, though. Makes me feel better about omitting it.
I’m also glad you dropped that little nugget about Shannon and Axl. I had no idea they were friends or from the same hometown. Thank you for enlightening me!

Thanks for sharing Sonny. Love this one and, the bee girl is deservedly an icon!
RIP Shannon Hoon. He and Axel Rose were friends from the same hometown— Lafayette, IN.
