Dear Gen Xer,
Last week turned into an epic battle between the 80’s and the 90’s. Nine Inch Nails and Siouxsie and the Banshees slugged it out until the end.
There can only be one winner, however.
Behold your glorious champion:
Nine Inch Nails squeaked out a victory with 28% of the vote.
Great news for NIN fans!
Or is it?
You might recall that last week’s question included a poster for Lollapalooza. The poster was for a show at Compton Terrace on July 18, 1991. Daniel Helkenn - long-time reader of the Gen X Jukebox - happened to be running security that day. Here’s a quote from his enlightening comments:
“As far as the show itself the bands were pretty much what one would expect from them with one exception. Nine Inch Nails had equipment issues. Reznor flipped out and terminated the set. So if one of your readers selected them …wrong answer.”
Trent Reznor giveth and he taketh away.
And now, the moment you’ve all been waiting for: The Gen X Jukebox Question of the Week!
Forget art.
Forget music.
Time to ask the real questions.
Who had the best hair?
Let me know who you voted for! And easy with the Aqua Net.
No one had better 80s hair than CC Seville!💕 I always suspected Dee Snider’s was a wig.
Beautiful setup for your question. Tip of the cap for the shout out. You’re right in my wheelhouse today. I just finished my workout using Apple’s HairMetal Radio Station.
The answer of course is Poison although I’ll give you a story from someone who would disagree
Right after David Lee and Van Halen parted company and Van Hagar was put into motion I had the pleasure of working one of their opening shows in Phoenix. I was talking to Michael Anthony and he said their touring entourage could drop one semi trailer because they didn’t need to haul Dave’s hair products.
